There is also an autocomplete console feature, which means that when starting typeing a command or a cvar in the console and pressing the “TAB” key, it will show a list of all the commands or cvars starting with those letter or letters, so you can choose what you want to enter in console.

Typing a a cvar into the console with no setting for that cvar, in most cases the console will apply the “default” value of that cvar (what the console thinks it would be the default setting).
